  • Addressing the wing situation

Is it time to press the panic button? Instead of a big trade, what about looking at the unsigned free agents?

    http://hoopshype.com/free_agency.htm

Would Pietrus or Howard be a stey up over Alan Anderson or Dominic McGuire? What would it cost to sign them?

On another note - look at all the former Raptor small forwards that can't get a contract.

Seems like something has to be done. So far fields looks lost I would wait around the 15 game mark to push the panic button though. If things arent working out then, pull the trigger on something.

Lets not forget we have Kleiza and T Ross on our team. Two wings that have basically seen no time this year (and one who is the #8 pick!). Before we go on the scrap heap for Pietrus or Howard (and spend more money) - lets give the other guys some PT ..

I'd like to see t-Ross starting. He can't be any worse than Fields offensively.

Valid point - Ross should be getting more playing time and I am not exactly sure why Kleiza is buried on the bench (or in street clothes)... other than any lineup with DD, Jose, Bargnani and Kleiza could be one of the worst defensive teams ever.

Agreed Ross needs to see more time.

I don't think anything needs to be done this year. The raps aren't contending for anything but a first round playoff loss, so why make any decision that's gonna set youback later. Just suck it up and hope he gets comfortable enough to contribute down the road.

I say keep Anderson as the second unit guy, start Kleiza and use Fields as a role player until he gets his game back or the coach feels like shaking up things again in the future. Kleiza is sort of a poor man's Kirilenko. I think he could be a reliable performer if given the chance to start. He's tougher than Fields, which would help compensate for Bargnani's wimpiness on defense, and he can be a cutter probably just as well as Fields too, and this seems to be Field's only good offensive move. And with Kleiza starting, the Raps' starting offense would be quite potent. It's not like Kleiza has never started games before. Why elevate Anderson above him so quick. But demote Fields for sure. He deserves it by now. Lousy preseason, lousy first week. How much are you gonna tolerate without losing the respect of the other players?

Give Kleiza the chance he deserves after looking great against the NBA Olympic team. If Anderson is given the starters job now it might blow his mind and ruin his game. Only other choice is DeRozan and try Ross at the 3. That'd be worth a try for a game or two to see what happens.

I also think Casey should try starting Lucas tonight and see if Calderone can develop into a lethal sixth man. His shooting has looked great so far this season.

Who are the Raptors cutting? The roster is full.

Personally, I really like McGuire. He is a specialist capable of guarding 2 through 4.

Agreed. Although a very small sample size, I think McGuire has made a case to be starting. Yes, Alan Anderson has been much better offensively, but I like what Anderson brings off the bench.
McGuire looked really comfortable on the offensive end last night (albeit, in a blowout), and he is better defensively than Fields and Anderson. Unfortunately, I don't see Fields being put down to third on the depth chart at SF (behind McGuire and Anderson), even though Casey says contracts don't matter.

Can we cut Landry? Is it too late? Isn't there a This-Guy-Is-Fucking-Awful clause in the contract? 90 days or 90 minutes type of deal

Maybe they can move 3 or 4 of their current wing guys for one guy that can play in the NBA.
