I’m pumped.
After a long, boring summer, I finally get a chance to see Mop Girl again (it’s small, but it’s all I got). And, of course, the Raptors. It’s been way too long since I last climbed into my seats at the ACC and spilled beer on the bald guy in front of me, shouting until my throat is chafed and bleeding. Can’t wait.
Going to cheer The Moonwalker (can a 12th man have a nickname?) and the rest of the Raptors on with my friend Bargain Berga. Smells like a W tonight. I know pre-season means nothing (even though it means something) but this Cavs team, with some glaring, shotgun-sized holes, is more than beatable.
Some pre-game points:
– Bosh has been saying tonight’s the night he’s making his comeback. This statement has been amended recently, so fingers crossed.
– The King’s in town. That’s always news. Mothers, lock up your daughters.
– I’m curious to see how these Cavs play without Anderson Varejo and Sasha Pavlovic, both holding out for more greenbacks. They are two of the unheralded cogs of that team. Without them they are seriously lacking depth, defence, and shooting.
– Watching Big Z and Rasho go head-to-head is always enjoyable for me. Over 14ft of deodorant free, chain-smoking European meat bumping hairy elbows in the key.
– I’m going to be keeping a close eye on those vying for the 3 spot, in particular Kapono and Delfino. As they get more comfortable, I’m looking to one of them to secure the starting job.
For those who don’t watch Game in an Hour (why they don’t broadcast these games is beyond comprehension) check back after the buzzer for postgame wrap-up, commentary from a slightly buzzed fan, and exclusive interviews with real NBA (Live’08) players*.
Go Raps GO!
