DeMar DeRozan dropped 11 dimes against the Pelicans to more than make up for his sub-par sho. His previous high on the season was six, which he achieved against against Boston and Indiana on October 28 and 30, respectively. His career-high came on February 1, 2014 against the Portland Trailblazers when he had 12 assists.
DeRozan spoke to Blake after the game about his playmaking:
“I understand I draw a lot of attention. I know I’ll be able to shoot the ball when I want. It’s about getting my teammates going and trying to make us better, and trying to take the pressure off me.”
“Once you have so many options you can lean on – getting fouled, getting to the free-throw line, getting your shot off whenever you want – you kinda just want to figure the game out. That’s what I tried to do tonight, just tried to get my teammates going.”
