The Toronto Raptors may have suffered a big blow late in the third quarter of Game 5.
DeMarre Carroll appeared to hurt his left wrist stumbling to the floor in transition with Goran Dragic on what was ultimately called a Carroll charge.. He stayed on the floor for a fair amount of time before the training staff helped him off and to the locker room.
X-rays on his left wrist were negative but he’s done for the night with a contusion.

Norman Powell entered the game in his stead and stands to see extended run if Caroll’s hurt for any amount of time. Let’s hope that’s not the case, because as fun as Powell is, Carroll’s defense, while occasionally uneven, has been big as he’s rounded into form, and he’s contributed some nice aggression on the offensive end, too (although he was 1-of-7 in this game so far).
Carroll was limited to just 26 games during the regular season due to arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He played through most of the playoffs with multiple injuries last year, so it stands to reason that if there’s any way he physically can, he’ll return.
Luol Deng also left the game with a left wrist injury and will not return. X-rays were inconclusive.
