S. Ibaka27 MIN, 7 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 3-7 FG, 1-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -24 +/-

Heads up, most of these grades are going to be ugly. With that in mind at least it felt like Ibaka was trying tonight. He was still a ball stopper and only grabbed two boards on a night that every Raptors got WORKED under the rim. Started off the game with a three and some nice moves outside and then…nothing.

O. Anunoby20 MIN, 6 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 2-6 FG, 2-6 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -19 +/-

Tried his best to use his length on defence but every Raptors starter looked abysmal in that aspect of the game tonight. He continues to hit threes (only Tatum has a better percentage among rookies) and he wasn’t shy shooting them which is a good sign in a loss like this.

J. Valanciunas20 MIN, 16 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 7-9 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-2 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -28 +/-

JV was arguably the best Raptor tonight. Sure he got abused on the boards by Steven Adams (he finished with two) but at least it looked like he gave a damn. He had his way under the basket finishing 7-9 from the field and was jawing at Westbrook and the rest of the Thunder bench for most of the game. The entire arena seemed to hate him tonight and that’s usually a good sign.

K. Lowry30 MIN, 13 PTS, 4 REB, 10 AST, 3 STL, 3-10 FG, 2-7 3FG, 5-5 FT, 0 BLK, 3 TO, -27 +/-

People will see double-double and think he just couldn’t get his shot to fall but this was a BAD game from Lowry. Teams need their stars to step after bad losses and create but Lowry was dominated by Westbrook on both ends of the floor. I mean…look at this effort.

D. DeRozan36 MIN, 15 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 4-16 FG, 0-3 3FG, 7-7 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -18 +/-

If you thought last night was an anomaly I have bad news for you. DeRozan turned in another dud tonight and was completely locked up by Roberson all night. He was timid at the rim and simply lost his energy as the night went on. He was 3/5 to start…only to finish 4/16. No matter how bad you are at math that sucks. When his shot wasn’t falling his defence took a hit as well. Yikes.

C. Miles22 MIN, 20 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 6-12 FG, 6-12 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 9 +/-

Get this man more minutes. I know this was just his second game back but he was the only Raptor who could hit a shot tonight. He finished with 20 points on six threes (the only field goals he made) and was a green light special all night.

J. Poeltl21 MIN, 13 PTS, 6 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 6-8 FG, 0-0 3FG, 1-3 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, 13 +/-

Poeltl was the most physical of all the Raptors’ big men tonight and probably should have gotten more run with how Adams was dominating. He also finished almost everything he touched and wasn’t afraid to battle at the rim.

F. VanVleet18 MIN, 2 PTS, 5 REB, 4 AST, 0 STL, 1-3 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 3 +/-

With the entire team struggling to make a shot it would have been nice to see FVV take a few more cracks at the rim, but he ran the second unit well and his usual energy was there for every minute. With how poorly Lowry played, VanVleet should have had more minutes to send a message.

D. Wright16 MIN, 6 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 2-5 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-2 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -4 +/-

Attacked the rim tonight, which is more than I can say for a certain other point guard…and his confidence was refreshing. He needed to help out more on defence and use his length to save VanVleet in some situations but continues to look like he’s improving as he makes his way back.

P. Siakam16 MIN, 5 PTS, 4 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 1-3 FG, 0-1 3FG, 3-3 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, 11 +/-

Great energy but had trouble playing defence tonight, especially on the perimeter. Still had some active hands and even made 3/3 from the line tonight.

N. Powell10 MIN, 2 PTS, 0 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 1-5 FG, 0-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -4 +/-

This is getting concerning. Powell played just ten minutes tonight in a game that the Raptors desperately needed a player to inject some energy. It doesn’t seem like he’ll ever make another three again and he finished with just one field goal and zero rebounds. He needs SOMETHING to get his confidence back. Damn.

L. Nogueira4 MIN, 2 PTS, 0 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 0-1 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 3 +/-

Not enough here to give a grade, just played some garbage time at the end, but hey he made both his free throws.

Dwane Casey

Really needed to get his team up for this one and…didn’t. Should have played Miles more with how willing he was to shoot. Just a disappointing effort from the entire team and that has to reflect on the coach.

Things We Saw

  1. Westbrook is petty, man.

  2. JV wasn’t afraid of anyone tonight and you know what? That was hella nice to see.
  3. Carmelo looks good. Paul George looks good. The Thunder look good.
