Serge Ibaka and James Johnson earn double-ejections

Come on, man.

As if being down Kyle Lowry already weren’t enough, Serge Ibaka went and got himself tossed from the team’s game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

In the middle of a spirited third-quarter comeback, Ibaka got into it with James Johnson. Shoving ensued, and after a lengthy review, both players were hit with technicals and kicked out of the game.

With Ibaka out, C.J. Miles checked in for a smaller look with some much-needed spacing. Pascal Siakam figures to see more time in the second half, as well, and Alfonzo McKinnie or Lorenzo Brown could theoretically factor in if the Raptors want to keep the rotation at 10. Looking ahead more, it’s possible upon league review that Ibaka and Johnson earn supplementary discipline, as the exchange was pretty heated. It’ll depend if the league decides that’s shoving or if they were throwing forearm shivers and something close to punches.

Ibaka looks to be the first to try to back away and let things cool, and Johnson was the more physical initiator, which might work in his favor. Still, heat of the moment and the value of toughness and all of that considered, it’s a tough time to earn an ejection.
