D
D. Green32 MIN, 6 PTS, 3 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 2-10 FG, 2-7 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 15 +/-

Cooled off after his big night in Orlando, failing to knock down a shot until deep into the second half. He’ll bounce back.

B+
P. Siakam32 MIN, 22 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 9-13 FG, 1-3 3FG, 3-5 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 19 +/-

Really turned it on in the second half, excelling once again driving into the paint and finishing. His improved handle continues to open eyes around the league. Siakam putting forth 20-point efforts is quickly becoming a standard night at the office for him.

A+
J. Valanciunas27 MIN, 24 PTS, 13 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 9-12 FG, 1-2 3FG, 5-8 FT, 1 BLK, 2 TO, 21 +/-

Took full advantage of his opportunity to start, showing off strong interior defence and a great vertical leap when contesting without fouling. Flashed a great touch inside and had a strong game on the offensive glass. Relentlessly attacked the paint in what was a dominant outing for the Lithuanian.

A+
K. Lowry32 MIN, 21 PTS, 12 REB, 17 AST, 0 STL, 7-12 FG, 3-6 3FG, 4-4 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 28 +/-

Played his best game of the season after struggling his past few outings. Orchestrated the offence beautifully all night, showing off a great two-man game with Valanciunas in a dominant first half. Kyle found a nice balance distributing and creating his own offence, which may have been made easier with more offensive responsibility in Leonard’s absence.

B-
F. VanVleet36 MIN, 11 PTS, 1 REB, 6 AST, 0 STL, 5-11 FG, 1-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 15 +/-

After a slow start, VanVleet picked it up in the second half. Had a tough time finishing around the rim, but salvaged his box score with the game out of reach by the fourth quarter.

C+
D. Wright22 MIN, 6 PTS, 2 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 3-7 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 2 +/-

Wright’s lone assist of the night was pretty smooth, finding Ibaka with an over-the-shoulder pass back to the perimeter leading to a three-pointer early in the fourth. Didn’t stand out much aside from that, but was able to check Trae Young nicely when matched up against him.

B+
S. Ibaka21 MIN, 19 PTS, 9 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 8-11 FG, 1-4 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 4 TO, 4 +/-

Another strong game from Serge. It doesn’t seem to matter whether he’s starting or coming off the bench. No matter the circumstance, Ibaka’s becoming a candidate for Most Improved Player this season.

D
L. Brown15 MIN, 3 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 1-5 FG, 1-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -8 +/-

Poor ball handling created an easy transition opportunity for Hawks in the first half. Executed a fast break opportunity well in the fourth with Ibaka, but wasn’t much of a factor.

D+
G. Monroe13 MIN, 3 PTS, 6 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 1-5 FG, 0-0 3FG, 1-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -10 +/-

Got some rare first-quarter minutes. Seemed lost on defence at times and certainly was rusty. Can’t exactly blame him for that given how infrequently he finds himself on the floor.

Inc
J. Loyd3 MIN, 4 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1-1 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -2 +/-

Was nice to see the Atlanta native get some garbage time minutes.

M. Richardson3 MIN, 0 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-1 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -2 +/-

Played exclusively in garbage time, so not much to go off here.

Inc
C. Boucher3 MIN, 5 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 2-2 FG, 1-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -2 +/-

Another member of the garbage time unit, but showed off some nice touch from distance.

A
Nick Nurse

Good on Nurse for recognizing the bench was letting Atlanta crawl back into the game, then wisely subbing Lowry and Valanciunas back in to close out the first half. The team never looked back after that point.

Also, kudos for getting Atlanta-native Jordan Loyd some garbage time minutes.

Things We Saw

  1. Congrats, Vince Carter. Only fitting that he reached 25,000 points on a dunk with less than a second remaining in regulation, against the Raptors no less.
  2. Neither team scored within the first 3 minutes. After another sluggish start, the Raptors thankfully were able to shake off the rust after a few minutes.
  3. The Raptors bench continued to struggle developing an offensive rhythm. At this point, I’m legitimately concerned with the performance of the second unit.
  4. The starters looked incredibly fresh considering it was the second night of a back-to-back. Lowry and Valanciunas led the way all night long.
