![]() B | K. Leonard29 MIN, 21 PTS, 6 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 7-19 FG, 2-5 3FG, 5-5 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -27 +/- Kawhi was mortal in this one. He was still good, but not superhumanly so, and that was the difference with all the guys that were out for the Raptors. He tried to will a win in the third but just didn’t have it in him tonight. Not on him though.
![]() C | P. Siakam29 MIN, 4 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 1-8 FG, 0-2 3FG, 2-3 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -20 +/- Not his best night. The Magic held him off the board mostly offensively and defended him well, and with them hitting everything in sight it limited transition opportunities. Took a hard fall late in this game, hope he’s okay going forward because the Raptors don’t need more injuries.
![]() B+ | S. Ibaka32 MIN, 17 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 8-16 FG, 1-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 4 BLK, 2 TO, -11 +/- Serge was maybe the best Raptor in this game, with him being the only real defensive presence the team had as well as one of the few guys who could find a bucket. Nice game from him, although he didn’t slow down Vucevic much.
![]() C | D. Green18 MIN, 2 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 1-6 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 2 TO, -9 +/- Limited by foul trouble in this game, and his absence was felt when he was out. Wasn’t terribly effective, when he did play.
![]() C | F. VanVleet23 MIN, 11 PTS, 1 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 3-12 FG, 2-6 3FG, 3-4 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, -13 +/- DJ Augustin gave him the business in this game, as Fred struggled to create shots for himself or others and wasn’t effective defensively. Took a hard fall and went to the bench midway through the third with a pectoral issue. Hopefully he’s okay going forward.
![]() C | D. Wright31 MIN, 6 PTS, 3 REB, 6 AST, 1 STL, 2-8 FG, 2-5 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -19 +/- Couldn’t spark the comeback after Fred went down and Lowry was already out for the night, although he did have some nice moments. Needed to do more defensively.
![]() D | C. Miles26 MIN, 7 PTS, 5 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1-9 FG, 0-5 3FG, 5-6 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -14 +/- I’m not even sure what to say here anymore. CJ is struggling with his shot, isn’t bringing much defensively, and is wearing his frustration on his sleeve. He’s going to get minutes while guys are out, but if he’s going to be part of the rotation in the playoffs, he has to find a way to contribute soon.
![]() B | O. Anunoby23 MIN, 8 PTS, 2 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 2-4 FG, 2-2 3FG, 2-4 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -11 +/- Not a bad game from OG, again. Hit a couple threes, played solid, and generally gave the Raptors an ok game, which is good to see after his struggles earlier in the season.
![]() C | G. Monroe10 MIN, 0 PTS, 5 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 0-4 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -10 +/- Monroe makes great decisions on offense, and is a serious problem on defense. You get what you expect from him, but the defense will continue to be an issue.
![]() A | C. Boucher9 MIN, 9 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 3-4 FG, 3-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 2 BLK, 0 TO, -1 +/- Really nice minutes from Boucher. Hit some great looking shots, got a couple of blocks. Wouldn’t mind seeing his role in the rotation expanded as the season goes on.
![]() D | L. Brown6 MIN, 0 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 0-4 FG, 0-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -7 +/- Brown was called upon due to injuries, but wasn’t going to be a factor in this one and didn’t really make an impact.
![]() C | M. Richardson4 MIN, 2 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-1 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -3 +/- Scored a couple of points in garbage time, wasn’t otherwise notable.
![]() C | Nick Nurse Nurse needs to actually have his rotation at some point to play it, and without Jonas there aren’t a lot of answers for big centers like Vucevic, so it’s not really his fault that he didn’t have one. Didn’t bring the second half comeback the Raptors have had in most recent games, but this one isn’t on the coach. |
Things We Saw
- The Raptors need to get healthy, and are clearly prioritizing that this season, with Lowry still out at this point. It’s a good plan in the long term, but it isn’t fun to watch sometimes, like tonight.
- It’s hard to break down the Raptors rotation in a game like this, because it’s so broken. Not just the injuries, but Green’s foul trouble as well, made it so there was no consistency from earlier games in the season and it showed.
- The Raptors need to accept this game for what it is and move on. This one doesn’t have to carry over because of the mitigating circumstances, and it’s a bad loss, but not an indicative one of bigger problems. Look forward, and get healthy.
