A really solid game overall, and made great plays early on. As the scoring hierarchy settled and Scottie started to receive more attention, Siakam couldn’t turn it up to the degree that he probably had to. Even though the team prioritized looks for other players, he left a bit of meat on the bone. His help-side defense in clutch time was unbelievably good. It didn’t cost them the game, but hit the free throws, brother.

Future superstar? Drop the future part maybe?? He was unbelievable. Ate up space like crazy on the offensive end, and overwhelmed the Lakers to the point where he almost broke them. Two costly turnovers late, but this game can’t be tarnished. He was fantastic.

Quality big man stuff in his time on the floor. Grabbed extra possessions for the guys, and played solid defense.

It’s not his fault that the Raptors are *this* reliant on his shooting, but they need his 3-point shot. He’s sub-30-percent since the All-Star break, and you felt all the misses in this one. Had some really nice lead guard possessions, but he wasn’t close to the best player on the roster tonight, and he often is.

Most of this game was poor. His defense waned, his jumpshot wasn’t there. But, he closed like a star. Big shot after big shot, and when the Lakers were going buck wild from 3, he was the counterpunch. Really great game.

Too many missed reads, too many missed easy shots. He has a low usage role, and he’s making way too many mistakes in it right now.

Didn’t like a couple of his pulls from downtown. A couple absent minded defensive plays. Felt alright about this performance, but there was definitely things he could’ve avoided.

Thought he was tremendous in the big, flashy parts of the game. His on-ball defense on LeBron couldn’t have been better – he was perfect. His off-ball defense was littered with mistakes, and James nabbed near double-digit points off of back cuts. The offensive pop was needed, and he continues to excite and intrigue on that end.

Wind sprints with a bit of defense and a push shot.

B+
Nick Nurse

Thought it was a bit odd for him to sit Scottie so long in the 2nd Q. A lot of the playcalls gave Scottie the proper amount of love and attention, though. And, he let Precious stick Bron in single coverage, which was largely the right decision. There was no solve for the Raptors loss. The play calls were good, the Raptors just made mistakes late, and the Lakers hit everything.

Things We Saw

  1. That LeBron James bank three. The Russ pull at the end. Outrageous, man.
  2. Stanley Johnson had the most ‘Stanley Johnson’ game of all time.
  3. Hold onto this Scottie performance… until the next one comes in a few days. I think he’s found something here.
