Raptors pick Christian Koloko 33rd in the 2021-22 draft

The Toronto Raptors officially have someone taller than six foot nine on the roster. Christian Koloko is a seven-foot-one center hailing from Cameroon who plays a heck of a lot of defense. The fit goes deeper than that.

He started playing basketball late in his life, so the argument there, as it was for Pascal Siakam, is that he has latent development left in the tank. He is from Douala, the same hometown as Siakam, too.

Koloko played three years in college for Arizona before popping in 2021-22, averaging 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. He had touch from the line and was a better passer than his numbers showed. We’ll have plenty more on the pick for now, but mostly … damn … what a Raptors-y selection.
