Raptors stumble a bit to start, become hot fire at both ends in the 4th.

Recap | Box Score
90Milwaukee Bucks
Luis Scola, PF 37 MIN | 7-12 FG | 3-4 3FG | 0-0 FT | 11 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 1 TO | 17 PTS | +31 +/-

Really strong minutes. Thought he under-performed in two earlier meetings but took advantage of youngsters inside, provided solid defense.

James Johnson, PF 15 MIN | 3-6 FG | 0-1 3FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 6 PTS | +3 +/-

Did a lot early, throwing down a dunk, grabbing a steal and blocking a pair of shots. Probably about what to expect of his minutes and role with Carroll back.

Bismack Biyombo, C 27 MIN | 5-7 FG | 0-0 3FG | 4-7 FT | 12 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 4 BLK | 0 TO | 14 PTS | -10 +/-

One point off his career high and his 6th straight games with double-digit rebounds. He’s filled in great, but worth noting hes a -37 in those six games while Raptors are +40 when he’s on the bench in that stretch.

Kyle Lowry, PG 32 MIN | 6-15 FG | 2-6 3FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 9 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 4 TO | 16 PTS | +5 +/-

Quiet start but got angry at one point and it seemed to pick up the rest of the team’s energy. Has looked a bit tired of late, nice to see him shift focus to distributing with shot a bit cold.

DeMar DeRozan, SG 33 MIN | 7-14 FG | 1-4 3FG | 7-8 FT | 3 REB | 8 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 22 PTS | +5 +/-

Nine in a row with 20-plus, DeRozan has been unbelievable of late. The length of the Bucks frustrated him early but he eventually found attacking early and aggressively was the way to go.

Patrick Patterson, PF 28 MIN | 2-6 FG | 0-3 3FG | 0-0 FT | 7 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | +21 +/-

The shooting line masks that he was terrific on defense, hit the glass well, and really helped swing the ball around the perimeter. The team’s ball movement was lovely.

Terrence Ross, SF 29 MIN | 8-13 FG | 5-8 3FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 21 PTS | +21 +/-

We might all be back all-in at this point. His steals were all smart ones within the concept of the defense, and his shot selection with maybe one exception was on point. He gets easy looks on the wing and off simple curls, and he’s knocked them down for three weeks now.

DeMarre Carroll, SF 18 MIN | 3-5 FG | 1-2 3FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 7 PTS | +13 +/-

About as good as you could expect in his first game back. Hitting a three surely felt good, and his miss inside, while par for the course this year, is hopefully just rust.

Lucas Nogueira, C 4 MIN | 0-0 FG | 0-0 3FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | 0 +/-

The worst he’s looked all year. He honestly averaged 1 GIF per-minute of his mistakes.

Cory Joseph, PG 16 MIN | 1-3 FG | 1-1 3FG | 1-2 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | +16 +/-

Something’s still up here. Whether it’s still “lung crud” or fatigue or what, he looks a bit off. Still, steady enough support of Lowry.

Dwane Casey

Smart rotations, good use of his Carroll budget, a couple of really nice side out-of-bounds plays, and the team had 31 assists on 42 field goals. Only gripe might be the slow adjustment to Greg Monroe cooking Bismack Biyombo and help on the block.

Five Things We Saw

  1. 31 assists!!! What team was this? This was awesome. Hopefully the fun fourth quarter carries over to Chicago on Monday.
  2. As good as Biyombo’s been, Valanciunas could be back Monday, and you can stop your questions about Biyombo starting there. Tonight was a great example – 14-and-12 with four blocks and the team still struggled with him out there. He’s a very nice backup to have.
  3. T.J. Ross…I mean…are we all back in on him? Three weeks of knocking down shots and playing mostly solid-to-good defense. Is…is this a thing? Do we trust this?
  4. A little surprised to see nobody assigned to the 905 for tonight. They’ll only have 10 guys, and the Raptors would have been fine without. Suggests to me they were unsure of Carroll and Johnson until today.
  5. Three days was too long without Raptors basketball. Let us never do that again.
