Raptors assign Bruno Caboclo to D-League

I guess I'm not practicing, after all.

Well, this certainly seems to confirm Tuesday’s report that the Denver Nuggets are signing Axel Toupane. With Raptors 905 also down Ronald Roberts, practice in Mississauga was set to be quite thin on Tuesday.

Enter Bruno Caboclo, who has been re-assigned to the D-League squad by the parent club Toronto Raptors, the team announced. He’s been assigned probably just in time to make practice Tuesday, seemingly pulled from the Raptors’ practice in order to lend a body.

Caboclo was just recalled Sunday night, and you can read a full progress report from his latest stint with the 905 here. I’m not going to rehash all of that, but as a too long didn’t read: He’s getting better, week by week, and while there are shaky individual outings, he’s definitely moving in the right direction. In 27 games with the 905, Caboclo is now averaging 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, one steal, and 1.6 blocks in 32.7 minutes while shooting 39 percent overall and 33.3 percent on threes.

Whether he’ll get recalled for the Raptors’ game against Utah on Wednesday is unclear (it seems likely if Jason Thompson isn’t officially signed yet), but it would just be a temporary move if he is – he’ll be in uniform with the 905 on Thursday, barring some unforeseen change in circumstance.
