Masai Ujiri fined $25K for verbally confronting officials

Good for him.

Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri has been fined $25,000 for walking onto the court to confront officials at the end of the second quarter of Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, the NBA announced.

Here’s the release:

Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri has been fined $25,000 for walking onto the playing court at halftime to verbally confront game officials, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, NBA League Operations.

The incident occurred during the Raptors’ 105-103 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, May 5 at Quicken Loans Arena.

Ujiri, like head coach Dwane Casey and most everyone, appeared to be upset at an overturned shooting foul that would have sent Serge Ibaka to the free-throw line for an and-one opportunity but instead resulted in the Raptors with the ball out of bounds, or possibly just the officiating in the half in general.

The Last Two Minute Report for the game showed no incorrect calls or non-calls but did show three travels on the Raptors observable in enhanced video, including on OG Anunoby’s game-tying three.
