Siakam played some great defense in this one and had some nice stretches early offensively, but overall just wasn’t good enough. They needed him to provide something offensively in the second half and he struggled, and looked shook late. Has to be better to give the Raptors a chance in this series.

B
K. Leonard42 MIN, 31 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST, 3 STL, 10-26 FG, 1-5 3FG, 10-10 FT, 0 BLK, 3 TO, -4 +/-

He scored 31, but it was a quiet 31. Was invisible for large portions of the fourth quarter, and he just can’t be that. Looked exhausted, and Toronto has to find a way to help him find something more in the tank as the series goes on.

C
M. Gasol40 MIN, 6 PTS, 12 REB, 5 AST, 0 STL, 2-11 FG, 2-7 3FG, 0-0 FT, 2 BLK, 1 TO, 1 +/-

Marc has to score. There really is just no way around it. He was a willing shooter tonight, but 6 points on 11 shots just isn’t enough.

K. Lowry40 MIN, 30 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 10-15 FG, 7-9 3FG, 3-4 FT, 0 BLK, 4 TO, -10 +/-

Phenomenal game from Lowry. The only Raptors player who played well, really, and he was unbelievable. Gave his team a shot to win it, and didn’t have any help in the fourth quarter. Did absolutely everything for the Raptors, and should’ve had a lot more than two assists.

D. Green35 MIN, 6 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 1-5 FG, 1-4 3FG, 3-4 FT, 0 BLK, 3 TO, 5 +/-

Danny, like Marc, has to score. Period. They have to get points from these guys in this series, and he couldn’t hit shots tonight, and had a brutal fourth quarter turnover in a deciding moment.

D
S. Ibaka17 MIN, 4 PTS, 4 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 2-6 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, -17 +/-

Ibaka got killed on the boards and struggled on offense. This was the story of the game for too many guys tonight.

F. VanVleet13 MIN, 2 PTS, 1 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1-4 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -10 +/-

Fred looked playable early, and then looked lost in the fourth quarter. He needs to be better so the starters can get some rest.

Norm was the best player off the bench tonight, due to actually hitting some shots, but he struggled defensively, and still could’ve given them a little more than he did.

Nick Nurse

This was the Philadelphia game 7 gameplan again. Ride the starters hard, use the Ibaka and Gasol lineups, and the Bucks aren’t the Sixers. He needs to find some answers in game two, because this was a wasted opportunity tonight.

Things We Saw

  1. This one hurt. Even though the Bucks are great and you aren’t going to win them all against a team like this, Kyle Lowry having this performance and getting no help hurts. Everyone else struggled. The Raptors need to find some answers in a hurry with the compressed schedule of this series.
  2. Rebounding matters.15 Bucks offensive rebounds tonight. A lot of second chance points. Toronto has to control their own boards.
  3. It’s just one, and it’s in Milwaukee. This game doesn’t decide the series. But the Raptors need to be better than they were tonight. And the bench has to give them some minutes, because the starters are clearly tired.
