Canada Basketball announces roster for men’s FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier

The roster is full of long-time stars.

For every year that Team Canada disappoints in international men’s basketball play, the redeeming factor is that there is always another year. Well, the boulder has rolled all the way back to the bottom of the hill, and now it’s time for Team Canada to push it back up. The roster has been released for Window One of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, and it’s full of old faces.

Many players across the roster have plenty of experience representing Canada in international play. Players like Bennett, Best, and Klassen were stars of the team during the race to qualify for the Olympics. The team has versatile scoring bigs in Bennett and Klassen, sweet-shooting wings in Best and Scrubb, and dynamic initiating guards in Chery and Gray. The roster has plenty of talent, if not the well-known NBA names for whom so many Canadian fans have pined. Alas, they remain in the NBA. When it comes to the qualification windows, the roster that Canada is bringing looks much like the one Canada has so often had. There’s still a huge amount of talent, so now it’s time for the fun to start.
