Davion Berry has pulled out of the D-League minicamp in Chicago due to a high ankle sprain, Chris Reichert of Upside & Motor tells Raptors Republic.
A high-impact trade deadline acquisition of Raptors 905, Berry was set to join teammate Scott Suggs as two of the 39 D-Leaguers at the marquee scouting event. Shannon Scott will take Berry’s place. That’s a tough break for Berry, who really impressed in the season’s closing months and could have been in the mix for a partial guarantee on a summer contract, with a team intending to make him a D-League affiliate player next season. That could still happen, perhaps even with the Toronto Raptors, but Berry will have to use Summer League in July as his jumping-off point.
