DeMarre Caroll leaves game with ankle sprain, won’t return

Oh good, more positive news...

The Toronto Raptors may have stumbled into even more bad news on Saturday.

DeMarre Carroll hit the floor midway through the third quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks, favoring his left ankle. Carroll stayed on the floor for an entire Bucks possessions before the Raptors could call timeout, after which Carroll limped to the locker room under his own power.

Shortly after, the Raptors announced that Carroll is done for the night due to a sprained left ankle.

Should Carroll miss any time, Norman Powell or P.J. Tucker would figure to start at small forward, and both would see additional time in the rotation. It would also limit the Raptors’ options of going small, meaning the regular frontcourt rotation could expand beyond its recent usage. There’s also a chance Delon Wright’s role expands with more two-point guard looks to help cover on the wings.

Luckily, the Raptors have three days off after this one for Carroll to heal up. The team can ill-afford to lose one of their better 3-point shooters – or anyone in general – right now.

More as it comes.
