Just didn’t have the stroke from three tonight, and you had to think it was overdue after an 18-for-31 stretch from the outside. Has missed his last seven. Everything else was there, as you’d expect. Helped key the late comeback.

D. Carroll27 MIN, 11 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 3-5 FG, 3-5 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -14 +/-

Knocked down a couple of threes early but was mostly ineffective. Always a nightmare waiting to happen when he puts the ball on the floor.

J. Valanciunas28 MIN, 10 PTS, 10 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 4-6 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-2 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -3 +/-

Good on the boards and had a couple of nice moments offensively. Really struggled defensively. Usually dominates the Pacers but wasn’t quite the story tonight.

C. Joseph32 MIN, 10 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 5-7 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 3 TO, -15 +/-

Officials gave him a tough time, I thought. Was steady, but lost the matchup to Teague down the stretch.

D. DeRozan40 MIN, 27 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST, 3 STL, 9-21 FG, 0-2 3FG, 9-10 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, -21 +/-

Only made 4-of-16 outside of a stretch where he made five straight in the third quarter. Rare off-night, but these things happen over the course of 82 games. Unfortunately for him, no one really had it going either.

C+
P. Tucker26 MIN, 9 PTS, 5 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 4-10 FG, 1-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -18 +/-

Didn’t cause too many problems for George and had two bad layup misses. Not his best night, but again, these things happen. Can never question the heart or hustle. Lance is an idiot.

D-
P. Patterson20 MIN, 2 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1-6 FG, 0-4 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -1 +/-

Really disappointing night. Ibaka has been so consistent, and to not knock down any of his open looks is frustrating. He needs to hold himself more accountable on that end.

B
D. Wright17 MIN, 5 PTS, 1 REB, 4 AST, 0 STL, 2-3 FG, 1-1 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, -3 +/-

Very good first half, but didn’t offer much in the second. The crossover on Brooks was nasty, and his ability to create separation with his hesitation dribble is a sight to behold.

J. Poeltl12 MIN, 8 PTS, 3 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 3-3 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-3 FT, 2 BLK, 0 TO, -5 +/-

Good, not great. Struggled with his pick-and-roll defense in the third quarter, to the point where Tucker had a go at him after one poor coverage.

N. Powell8 MIN, 0 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0-2 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 3 +/-

Anonymous in limited minutes, essentially the reverse of his Game 5 of the playoffs last season.

Dwane Casey

32-12 run gave the Pacers a 58-57 lead midway through the quarter. Struggled to find answers during the run, and inserted Patterson and Tucker for Ibaka and Carroll in the third. Fortunately, DeMar got hot, but the Pacers had all the rhythm by then and closed the game well.

Things We Saw

  1. A rare, strong first quarter from the Raptors. There was a good flow to the offence, but the defence was just stellar. Pacers shot under 25% in the quarter, and it looked like the Raptors might run away with it early.
  2. Momentum started to turn midway through the second, as the Pacers cut a 19-point deficit to 11 by the half. Fell flat to start the third and Indiana is too good at home to take advantage of that.
  3. Bush league stuff from Lance Stephenson laying the ball up with 3.3 seconds remaining and the game already in the bag. He and Tucker seemed to have a bit of back-and-forth during the game and that was his form of payback, I guess. Tucker will know where to find him if he wants to.
