A highlight in a game of lowlights. Attacked Ilyasova early in a matchup that he has the ability to dominate. Missed all his threes, but man his all-around floor game was fun tonight.

N. Powell27 MIN, 8 PTS, 3 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 2-3 FG, 2-3 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -12 +/-

By all accounts, a pretty decent game for Powell. Low usage, but made it count when he had the ball. If a game like this represents his floor going forward, he could bump CJ for the 10th man spot.

A
S. Ibaka29 MIN, 30 PTS, 9 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 12-21 FG, 2-5 3FG, 4-4 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, 7 +/-

Those 30-points really sneak up on you hey? He was a perfect outlet for the offense in the first half. More than solid on the defensive end. Went on a cold stretch in the second half, but he’s not perfect.

B
K. Lowry36 MIN, 9 PTS, 6 REB, 15 AST, 2 STL, 3-14 FG, 0-9 3FG, 3-5 FT, 2 BLK, 4 TO, -2 +/-

Tough game for Kyle. It’s appalling that he can stumble into 15 assists like this. That being said, he was far too passive early on (more on that later), with the Bucks scoring so much the offense needed to be more than Pascal and Serge. Was in the game way too long.

D. Green30 MIN, 8 PTS, 5 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 3-6 FG, 2-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -6 +/-

Was responsible for Middleton’s very cold first half. Hit his shots, and remained really active on D throughout the game.

C. Miles24 MIN, 4 PTS, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1-7 FG, 1-7 3FG, 1-2 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, -19 +/-

Absolute non-factor offensively, and wasn’t strong defensively. Powell is coming for your minutes, my guy.

C
L. Brown19 MIN, 5 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 2-9 FG, 1-5 3FG, 0-0 FT, 2 BLK, 1 TO, -7 +/-

He can pick a guy up on defense. His compete level on that end is always there. The Raptors just can’t score with him running the offense.

J. Valanciunas13 MIN, 10 PTS, 3 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 3-10 FG, 0-1 3FG, 4-4 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -21 +/-

This was a bad one for Valanciunas. Couldn’t punish the Bucks on the glass or at their own rim. With VanVleet and Leonard out, the Raptors were begging for a scoring punch. It didn’t come from him, and he got played off the floor. Disappointing.

D
M. Richardson13 MIN, 3 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 1-5 FG, 1-5 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 4 +/-

He’s not gun shy at all. Unfortunately didn’t hit very often. What else is he to do though? He was sent in to take shots, and he missed.

D. Wright13 MIN, 4 PTS, 3 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 1-5 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, -15 +/-

Feel really bad doing this. I’m certain he’s not healthy, man. He’s a special type of player, and he can fit this team in a pinch. Tonight he was part of a slew of missed rotations and communications. Looking forward to his bounce back.

Erm. Had more rebounds than JV.

Exciting for him to get some playing time! If you haven’t read it, Andrew Damelin did an awesome profile on him. You can find it on the site.

Got some NBA minutes, cool.

Nick Nurse

He’s got to feel vulnerable having to walk some of these lineups out there. Missing Anunoby, Leonard, and VanVleet is just way too much. The bench has dropped off a cliff and an injured Wright isn’t fixing anything. Left Kyle in for far too long.

Things We Saw

  1. When Siakam starts games, the first six minutes seem to be his. Lowry is happy to let him eat up possessions, and even happier to pitch ahead to him in transition. For most games it’s lots of fun, and could definitely bear fruit later on in the year. For games like tonight, it robs Lowry of finding his rhythm a little bit; and there’s no Leonard to cash in 25-points.
  2. Brogdon got to the rim with relative ease all night. That’s frustrating to watch. He doesn’t have an incredible handle, and he’s not extremely fast. The Raptors guards routinely let him get the edge and strong-arm into the paint. A lot of the defensive breakdowns started from these types of plays.
  3. The Bucks poured it in, man. 19 triples is too much to contend with when Ibaka and Siakam are the leading scorers. Raptors got run off the court.
  4. Ersan Ilyasova is James Franco as a vampire.
