Report: Raptors to sign Alex Antetokounmpo

An Antetokounmpo, at the least.

Per Christos Harpidis, the Raptors are soon to sign Alex Antetokounmpo, the youngest brother of two-time MVP and reigning champion Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo played a few minutes with the Sacramento Kings in Summer League and took a few shots without making any. He’s not a player who’s currently able to make a difference at the NBA level. He may not be the Antetokounmpo that the Raptors were chasing, but he seems to be the one they’re getting. With a variety of players, including Freddie Gillespie, Yuta Watanabe, Ish Wainright, and others chasing only a few roster spots remaining on the Raptors’ roster for 2021-22, Antetokounmpo seems to be a long shot to make the team outright. It’s probable that this is an Exhibit 10 contract, which would give Antetokounmpo a small bonus if he signs with Toronto’s G-League team, the Raptors 905.
