Raptors send Goran Dragic, 2022 protected first-rounder to Spurs for Thaddeus Young, Drew Eubanks, 2022 second-rounder

It was nice (?) while it lasted, Goran.

The Toronto Raptors are shipping Goran Dragic and a protected 2022 first-rounder to the San Antonio Spurs for Thaddeus Young, Drew Eubanks, and a 2022 second-rounder (via Detroit), as reported by Shams Charania.

Dragic hasn’t suited up for Toronto since a loss to the Detroit Pistons on November 13th. Him and the team agreed to mutually part ways near the end of 2021. Acquired from Miami in the Kyle Lowry-trade, Dragic posted averages of 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds with the Raptors. His contract is widely viewed as a valuable asset due to its expiring nature and it’s $19.4 million price tag.

The first-rounder is protected 1-14 in 2022 and 1-13 in 2023. If not conveyed by then, Toronto will send two second-rounders to San Antonio instead.

Like Dragic, Young is also on an expiring deal worth $14.2 million. The 14-year NBA veteran is averaging 6.1 points on 57.8% shooting from the field this season with the Spurs.. Young was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2007 and has also made stops in Minnesota, Brooklyn, Indiana, Chicago.

Eubanks, 25, went undrafted in 2018 but agreed to a two-way contract with the Spurs after playing in Summer League. After it expired in 2020, he re-signed to a three-year deal that has roughly $3.5 million left. In his first four seasons with San Antonio, he’s averaging 4.6 points and 3.8 boards on 56.5% shooting.
