Tonight on the Air Canada Centre practice floor, a group of 40 Raptors Republic writers and readers (along with special guests from The Basketball Jones) will play in a 150-minute tournament to crown the very first (and probably only) winner of The Chris Childs Cup.
Eight teams (Team TBJ, Team Amir, Team Jonas, Team DeMar, Team Rudy, Team KLOE, Team Quince, Team Elaine) will do a round robin of 10-minute games running the width of the practice court. From there, a single-elimination tournament of 12-minute games will take place to determine the winner of each pool (The Rafael Araujo Conference and The Hedo Turkoglu Conference). And then the Championship game, a 15-min full court battle between the winner from each conference.
Following the final, an tournament MVP will be announced (The Dwight Buycks Award) and any thirsty parties will head to Real Sports for some of Keon’s Secret Stuff.
Check back tomorrow for a full report from the event, complete with pictures and, of course, a highlight reel of all my dunks.
