On the previous episode of Talking Raptors, the podcast was hijacked and eventually destroyed by technology before it could reach any ears.

This week, the guys conquer technology and welcome a special guest, writer and media personality Darren Andrade. Darren joins Nick and Barry for a fun filled chat about the Raptors and what’s going on around the league.

They talk:

  • JV drinking and driving at Wasaga beach…
  • Paul George getting ‘catfished’ and whether that’s what’s destroying the Pacers. Or maybe it’s Andrew Bynum.
  • Jay Z vs Drake and what that would mean for a potential Raps vs Nets matchup.
  • Who the Raps want to face in the Playoffs.
  • and so much more.

Enjoy and thanks for listening.

Vasquez sucks you guys are as informative as a pair blonde chicks

    • afrocarter

LOL go read a book, man.

  • ckh26

Boys are you serious that JV’s kid like move is going to cause even a ripple in the locker room ? Have you ever played a team sport ? The room is a fraternity and it is very very forgiving. Your way off here. Miles off.

    • GetLicks

Agreed, especially with how close this team is. If anything, I think they’ll play better.

“Kobe raped someone and didn’t get suspended.”

Kobe didn’t get convicted (if he had, he’d have been done for at least 20 games, probably more like 40). A DUI is a lot harder to beat, even if the consequences are less drastic.

      • ckh26

While Kobe wasn’t convicted neither was OJ. I think public sentiment would be that justice was not served in either instance.

These two transgressions are light years apart. One carries a small fine and a suspended license for a year. The other is a predatory criminal action that fully merits a lengthy time in prison.

Kobe should have been disciplined by his employer for his actions. JV’s actions while showing piss poor judgement do not merit suspension by his employer.

        • afrocarter

Know your history. Jason Richardson, Dorrell Wright, and Jason Kidd have all be suspended for 2 games due to a DUI charge. It’s almost automatic at this point in time.

I do agree that it’ll have little impact in the locker room. If anything, I think JV will feel relieved to get back on the court.

          • ckh26

Kidd is also a wife beater and his DUI was his 4th or 5th brush with the law. Don’t know anything about Richardson or Wright but I would suspect they were repeat offenders.

Agree with you that JV will likely want to hide in full view on the court while he pays his public penance for his bonehead booze cruise in Wasaga.

            • afrocarter

Nope; in all three cases it was the first DUI offense.

        • FLUXLAND

You shouldn’t talk about things you are ignorant about.

And I like how on one hand JV and Kobe are light years apart, but OJ and Kobe are in the same ballpark in your world.

          • ckh26

Perhaps then you should pattern your self after marcel marceau.

            • FLUXLAND

Sounds like you need to heed your own advice, before you dish it out. You are sounding more ignorant with every word you type.

First of all, it seems like I am far more familiar with the details of case than you are.

Second of all, my moral compass in not in question here. The discussion was never about those who have acquired fame not being governed by the same set of standards as the rest of society. (seems like your reading comprehension failed you there – how you came to that conclusion from what I typed is nothing short of astounding.)

Third, no one ever claimed rape was OK under any circumstances.

If you wanna have a discussion about the misinformation you are spreading and how you are carelessly comparing cases that have zero merit for comparison, let’s do that. But don’t come on here and poorly attempt to steer the conversation away from the absolute garbage you posted to questioning my moral compass.

              • ckh26

                Touch a nerve did I ?

Your type always needs the last word…over to you.

                • FLUXLAND

When you bring my moral compass into a conversation where it doesn’t belong, then question it while implying my words meant something that you grossly misinterpreted, you can rest assured you have.

Your “type” needs to learn the meaning of: “No investigation, no right to speak”. Opinions and criticism that clearly lacks any through investigation is nothing short of incoherent babble and slander. You should refrain from it, if you don’t want people to laugh at you as if they are enjoying a Marcel Marceau act.

                • ckh26

Your “type” needs to learn the meaning of: “No investigation, no right to speak”.

I think I can comprehend that. A police state. Where one’s right to free speech or to disagree with others will be limited to the ready – fire – aim dictates of Herr Fluxland and his disciples. All Hail Der Flux !

                • FLUXLAND

No, you fail the reading comprehension thing again.

I explained the meaning in the sentence right after I typed it. But there you go again, reading how you like and confirming you complete ignorance.

    • Bryan Colangelo

Ideally you don’t want the locker room to overreact but you don’t want them to under-react. Players should be able to police themselves in situations like this.

The Knicks locker room would probably laugh it off as just another Monday. And that’s part of the reason why they’re losers; they’ve normalized being dumb asses on and off the court. They have zero-standards or shame now.

The Spurs locker room probably wouldn’t talk about it. But then Duncan lean over with raised eyebrows. “Seriously dude? You know that if someone got killed your career would be over right instantly, right? For fucking drive-thru? Hire a driver, dumbass.”

  • OakTree

It’s gotta be Gary Oldman playing Glen Grunwald in the TR movie.

    • afrocarter

Ha! Good one. I was thinking Clint Eastwood or Aaron Eckhart.

    • Bryan Colangelo

      Jeff Daniels.

      • OakTree

Jeff Daniels over Gary Oldman? Are you kidding?

That’s like taking Bargnani over LMA.

  • afrocarter

Great podcast today, fellas. Good convo with a great guest; I’m certainly a fan of Andrade after this. Keep up the good work!

  • Paul

    Trade JV… holy shit.
    Overreact much?
