#BrunoWatch – Bruno Caboclo D-League Debut, Highlights, Recap

Bruno Caboclo made his D-League debut, hit a few shots and committed a big turnover.

Bruno Caboclo was 5-14 FG (1-5 3FG) for 13 points and 7 rebounds but had a key turnover late in the game as the Mad Ants lost 111-106 (Box).

Caboclo played 20 minutes and looked confident in every shot he took, though he bricked his fair share especially on those ill-advised threes. He also had four turnovers, three of them due to poor handles and the last one due to a bad pass.  He jacked up his fair share of threes, which is what everyone sort of does in the D-League.

He tried to post-up a lot but didn’t always get the ball, probably because the times he did he couldn’t get a good shot, but still, good hustle.  He tried to drive the ball a few times after catching it at the three point line and didn’t always settle.  He did well on the boards, and especially competed on the offensive boards where he used his length to tip a couple rebounds.

It was interesting to see him used as an inbounder on a crucial play, where you’d think he’d have an advantage passing over a defender flailing his arms on the inbound.  Unfortunately, he made a low bounce pass which was quite easily picked off.

I’ve compiled his makes for you in the video below. What matters the most is that he got 20 minute of run in what appeared to be a contested game.  He hasn’t played that much all season.  Now that he’s got a bit of a feel for the pace of the D-League, and just what kind of ball is played there, I’m sure he’ll do better.  Again, his makes are below, followed by highlights of the game, followed by the actual game.
