Greivis Vasquez has come out and said the most sensible thing in the world.
Man, I’ll tell you this. This is the last day I’m going to answer anything about Paul Pierce.
Paul Pierce is a Hall of Famer that knows what he’s doing. Give him a lot of credit. He got you guys’ attention, he got everybody’s attention and if we keep talking about Paul Pierce, this is going to be a Paul Pierce series. It’s not going to be the Wizards, it’s just Paul Pierce. But what he’s doing is motivating his team, talking trash, so why would we talk trash?
I mean, I don’t know if you’re from Toronto but, like, we don’t have any trash talkers in our locker-room. So, you know, he does what he does. We respect that. We give him a lot of credit. He’s got big balls. That’s the reason he’s The Truth. He’s The Truth for a reason. What else can I tell you? Good for him. He’s a Hall of Famer. We love his game. I’ma big fan, I got a picture of him, too. He’s an animal. SO that’s it. We just got to play. Paul Pierce is going to be Paul Pierce.
I think that you guys got to stop asking all of us questions about Paul Pierce. let him do the talking, and we’ll see at the end who’s going to win the series. We give him a lot of respect. To him and to the whole team, to the Wizards. So we’ll see what happens.
He’s right. The Paul Pierce talk has materialized into an advantage for the Wizards, and hasn’t done anything to motivate the Raptors. In fact, it’s gotten in their head, the fans’ psyche, and is negatively impacting the series for the Raptors. The sad part is that what Pierce said wasn’t even that offensive, and it’s the media that has made it a ‘thing’ (including this site for posting this).
So, kudos to Vasquez for calling it like it is. When Pierce was asked about Vasquez’s compliment, he said what every Raptor should have said initially:
Let’s move on.
