After a couple days of waiting, the Raptors have re-signed Fred VanVleet to a deal of 85 Million over 4 years.
Early reports indicated VanVleet would wait until Saturday (today) to make his decision, and that was true. Here’s some cap relevant info that Blake highlights:
If VanVleet has agreed to structure the deal to help Raps maximize their 2021 space, it’d start at $21.25M and carry a 2021 hit of $19.55M. If it’s standard escalating, it’d start at $19M with a $20.5M hit for 2021. If it’s flat, it’d be $21.25M each year.

VanVleet has entered into Pseudo-Star status, and this contract allows the Raptors to pay him a deserved raise, while also allowing for room to grow. Mr. Bet on Yourself cashes in yet again.
I’m told VanVleet’s 4yr/$85 deal (player option in yr 4) starts at $21.25 and then decreases by 8% in yr 2 (2021/22) before ramping up again. The drop going into summer of 2021 helps preserve Raptors cap space.
