Rest in Peace, Scott Phillips.

Going to miss you, brother.

Just got slapped in the face with the news, and we lost a real one. I met Scott back in 2004, before RR, when he linked to one of my articles (probably about the dread of being a Raptors fan) in a daily post he published called Morning Coffee 👀. We became fast friends. Fast. He was a day 1 Raptors season ticket holder. Twitter (@AltRaps)? Day 1 there too, it’s why I signed up (why would anyone care if I yell about the Raptors sucking on Twitter?). You like the Quick Reaction? He invented that too (he called it Roll-Call though).

When the RR documentary gets made, Scott would have been there as one of the founding fathers. His contributions to Raptors Republic, Raptors Twitter, blogging in general, were foundational blocks that everything today has been built on.

RR OG’s

What made him special was the quality of his character, and not his creativity and ability to be ahead of the curve with trends and technology. He was always generous with his friendship, advice, time, money, front row seats to  Watch the Throne concert’s. He’s the kind of the guy who would get on a flight, while in New Orleans for the NBA All-Star game weekend, to get back in-town in time for your dad’s funeral. I know; he came for mine.

My deepest condolences to his lovely family; I am heartbroken for you. If anyone can put me in touch with them, I would appreciate it.

I wish I gave you your flowers while you were still with us. You are loved, and will be missed. See you on the other side, brother.
