Dwane Casey wins PBWA Rudy Tomjanovich Award

A nice nod for the head coach.

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey has been named the 2015-16 winner of the PBWA Rudy Tomjanovich Award, the PBWA announced.

The award “honors a coach for his cooperation with the media and fans, as well as his excellence on the court.” It’s a nice nod for Casey, and a well-deserved one. Not only did the Raptors have the fourth-best regular season record, but Casey has always seemed respectful of the media, learning beat writer names and answering even the most asinine of questions (except for who is healthy and starting, of course).

Steve Kerr was the recipient of the award last year. Casey was nominated alongside Steve Clifford, Doc Rivers, Brad Stevens, and Stan Van Gundy. Frank Vogel, Casey’s current opposition, won the award in 2013-14.
