Raptors 905 108, Salt Lake City Stars 114 | Box Score
Two-ways: Jordan Loyd (905), Tyler Cavanaugh, Naz Mitrou-Long (Stars)

Raptors 905 came up short tonight to kick off a 3-game west coast trip, falling 114-108 to the Salt Lake City Stars.

Jordan Loyd led the 905 with 30 points, 8 assists and 6 steals, while Wade Baldwin IV scored 28 points on an impressive 12 of 25 shooting night.

Two-way player and Mississauga native Naz Mitrou-Long exploded for 39 for the Stars, and fellow two-way Tyler Cavanaugh notched his 8th double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds on the evening.

Led by Mitrou-Long’s 13 first quarter points, the Stars jumped out to a 14-point lead early in the game shooting a sizzling 65% from the field. The 905 were able to chip away in the second quarter, and a mini 7-0 run helped cut the lead to 54-53 with 2:20 left in the first half.

Despite the 905 carrying over momentum over into the 3rd quarter, including a Loyd 3-pointer that gave the team their first lead since the opening minutes of the game, Cavanaugh and Mitrou-Long continued to dominate, and the Stars lead grew to its largest of the game at 17 points early in the final period.

Numerous trips to the line for Loyd and MiKyle McIntosh helped the 905 chip away at the lead once again, and with just over a minute remaining in the game Baldwin IV converted on an and-1 attempt to turn the score into a one possession game at 106-103 – the closest the 905 would get in mounting a comeback.
