Per Blake Murphy of Sportsnet, the Toronto Raptors have made their choices to fill out the bottom of the roster. They waived Ish Wainright, as well as a variety of players on Exhibit-10 contracts, meaning that Yuta Watanabe, Sam Dekker, and Isaac Bonga will make the roster, at least for now.
Players likely to head down to the Raptors 905 include Alex Antetokounmpo and Josh Hall, both signed to small bonuses on their contracts if they sign with the G-League club. Wainright is ineligible to play with the 905 because of the size of his partial guarantee. Two-ways David Johnson and Justin Champagnie will likely also see plenty of time with the 905, as well as Dalano Banton.
Nick Nurse indicated in previous days that Watanabe was going to make the roster. Dekker made a strong case for himself with lights-out shooting in Toronto’s final preseason game, and Bonga played exceptional defense and fit well into Toronto’s schemes during his appearances during preseason. Toronto’s current depth chart, when healthy, likely looks like this.
PG: Fred VanVleet, Goran Dragic, Malachi Flynn, Dalano Banton
SG: Gary Trent jr., Svi Mykhailiuk, David Johnson
SF: OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, Sam Dekker, Justine Champagnie
PF: Pascal Siakam, Chris Boucher, Yuta Watanabe, Isaac Bonga
C: Khem Birch, Precious Achiuwa
