The Toronto Raptors announced today that they have signed former Kansas guard/forward Josh Jackson. Jackson played this past season for the Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings. He posted averages of 6.4 points, 1.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game. Josh Jackon is 6β8, 207 pounds with a 6β10 wingspan
Blake Murphy reports that there’s no guaranteed money, and this is just a classic camp deal.
Jackson is a non-guaranteed deal, per a source. Old-school training camp invite deal, not an Exhibit 10 or Raps Special Partial. (Although he’d be 905 eligible, if the sides opted to go that route and 905 could draft/claim him.)

This is a deal that is low risk high reward, Jackson is a player who was revered in the past for his defense and showed many flashes of athleticism, but he was never able put together enough skills on offense to keep a consistent role from team to team.
The Raptors appear to believe they can potentially develop some of these skills such as his three point shooting and turn Jackson into a rotation player in the future. Heβs still only 24 years old so banking on his upside for this upcoming season could net great returns for them. If he turns out to not improve under their tutelage then they can cut their losses and proceed as planned.
Either way this is a low risk high reward move for the Raptors that could end up being fruitful for both parties.
