Great work on these draft updates and analysis of what the Raptors’ needs are that can be realistically filled with the 5th pick.
I myself feel like that if you can’t get Irving or Williams that they should seriously consider packaging the 5th pick with some assets for someon that can start at either the PG, SF or C. Any chance a discussion regarding whom the Raptor’s should realistically target in a trade will be coming up?

Great Pod cast again PHD Steve. I really enjoy these weekly broadcast. Thanks for the Hard Work.

There was a question in the other article about the trades and the new CBA and you mentioned also the possibility of making trades to bring in a 4 and …

Can NBA GMs make any trade after June 30th when the Current CBA is expired ?? For example, If we do NOT move AB or Jose or even Amir or …. by June 30th, do we have to wait for the new CBA to be agreed on and then make trades ????

    • Phdsteve

Once the regular season ends, any team not currently playing in the playoffs is allowed to trade players at anytime.

However, as we are seeing right now with the NFL, there can be no player movement (of any kind) without a CBA.  So, when the current CBA expires, unless there is an agreement between both sides to continue under the parameters of the current CBA until a new deal can be reached, then, the answer to your question – is no.   GMs cannot deal players at that time.

        Perfect. Thank you Phdsteve
I guess this can really limit the player movement after June 30 this summer.

  • walker can be the next iverson

Who do you think is going to replace Jay?

  • Nilanka15

What is Wolstat thinking saying that Walker isn’t a good athlete, and will have trouble getting his shot off in the NBA?  Does a 40″ vertical leap not impress???

I’m convinced that the only writer in Toronto who actually knows basketball is Michael Grange….maybe Eric Koreen.

    • Milesboyer

I bumped into Michael Grange at a coffee shop a couple of months ago and asked him why he wasn’t covering the Raptors as much this year.  He said it was his choice and that he needed a break, was disenchanted with the team and that there would be a long lockout, so it was a good time to move on to other things.  Very approachable guy though and a good reporter.
