As predicted by Blake in the pod, Bruno Caboclo is coming back to the Raptors after a three-game stint with Fort Wayne, which coincided with the Raptors’ west coast road trip.
Bruno had one decent below-average game, and two crappy games, one of them is documented here and in the other he went 0-4 in 14 minutes. In the latter two, he was scoreless. In total, he played 39 minutes which is probably less than what you might expect from a D-League stint, but keep in mind that we share the Mad Ants with about 58 other NBA teams so minutes aren’t exactly easy to come around.
The Raptors will likely sit down with Bruno and quiz him on what he learned in those 39 minutes, and it’ll be somewhere between ‘nothing’ and ‘I probably shouldn’t shoot every single time I touch the ball’.
I’m hoping that these 39 minutes will be historically the opposite of “those 13 games” for Andrea Bargnani.
This is unlikely to be his only stint in the D-League, so I’m thinking he bought a return ticket. Really, with two guys in Caboclo and Noguiera who need all the playing time they can get but are unable to at the club-level, the Raptors should have a dedicated D-League affiliate to feed them some minutes and perform some focused player development.
It would be nice if the Bruno Caboclo’s development was done in parallel with the Raptors resurgence elsewhere, because right now the two are diametrically opposed. I would think, if at all possible, a year in Europe would have done him wonders. Basically, the same route DeAndre Daniels took (except he’s in Australia).
The @Raptors have recalled Bruno Caboclo from Fort Wayne. Appeared in 3 games, averaging 4.3 pts, 2.7 rebs and 13.0 mins. #rtz
