B+
P. Siakam28 MIN, 9 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST, 3-3 FG, 0-0 3FG, 3-4 FT, 2 BLK, 3 TO, 9 +/-

Ran the floor like a maniac and did really well defensively. Didn’t hedge too much off his man to guard the perimeter and sealed the paint all night.

His block on Luis Scola was symbolic.

A+
D. Carroll22 MIN, 17 PTS, 3 REB, 0 AST, 7-11 FG, 3-6 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 17 +/-

Can’t speak highly enough about him. For the umpteenth time, he looks reborn – stroke is smooth and fluid, defense has revved up a gear or two.

A-
J. Valanciunas22 MIN, 10 PTS, 14 REB, 0 AST, 3-8 FG, 0-0 3FG, 4-4 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, 17 +/-

Really nice game overall, particularly on the glass.

A+
K. Lowry34 MIN, 23 PTS, 4 REB, 8 AST, 8-12 FG, 3-5 3FG, 4-5 FT, 1 BLK, 3 TO, 9 +/-

Continues to take (and hit) shots that aren’t really good shots – this is a compliment, in case you’re confused. Lowry is good – like superstar good. There were moments in this game where you felt the Raptors needed to settle into a half-court set and calm things down, then Lowry would obliterate that insane notion and jettison it out of your head with a pull-up 3-bomb.

Also, this was sorcery:

B
D. DeRozan29 MIN, 15 PTS, 1 REB, 2 AST, 6-20 FG, 0-2 3FG, 3-4 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 18 +/-

Hit a few really tough shots, but was also inefficient from the field and overall ended up having a quiet night offensively. But I mean, I’m giving him a B and his +/- was off the charts good. ‘OK game’ is relative. Dude’s still a beast.

A+
N. Powell27 MIN, 21 PTS, 3 REB, 1 AST, 7-13 FG, 1-2 3FG, 6-7 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, -1 +/-

I can’t believe Norman Powell is so good and the Raptors are actually this deep.

Tonight, Norm completely owned the passing lanes with his active hands and steals which led to transition buckets. He got to the rim at will.

B+
C. Joseph25 MIN, 11 PTS, 7 REB, 4 AST, 4-11 FG, 1-1 3FG, 2-3 FT, 0 BLK, 3 TO, 1 +/-

He was a wizard at getting to his spots offensively. His performances over the course of the season have started to follow a consistent trend – streaky offense and solid play on both ends of the floor while being an important figure to close the third / open the fourth.

B
T. Ross23 MIN, 4 PTS, 4 REB, 1 AST, 2-7 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 0 TO, -3 +/-

Quiet offensively. Had some nice defensive sequences. Shared the floor with Norm for a stretch. That was fun.

A
L. Nogueira22 MIN, 6 PTS, 6 REB, 1 AST, 2-3 FG, 0-0 3FG, 2-2 FT, 4 BLK, 0 TO, 4 +/-

Really, really nice game defensively. He’s gotten so good at dealing with defensive switches and hitting rotations quickly. Tonight, his rotations were Biyombo-esque. Really nice development from him.

Protected the rim admirably. He threw a block party during this game, and many Nets players attended.

A+
P. Patterson0 MIN, 0 PTS, 0 REB, 0 AST, 0-0 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 0 +/-

Really nice resting form. Little movement sitting, maximizing rest time.

A
Dwane Casey

I mean, what’s there to complain about?

Resting Patterson is just fine. Whatever preserves him, right?

His rotations without Patterson were fine too. We saw Norm spot some minutes at the four while Carroll played the three in the third. Rolled with Lowry + bench to ice this game in the fourth quarter – that lineup took their sweet time closing it out, but what can you do?

That JV – Bebe partnership for a split second was wonky.

Things We Saw

  1. Overall, this was an offensive onslaught. After five minutes and 15 points, all starters had scored. After three quarters, five players were in double figures.By the end of it, the Raptors had 20+ assists, shot nearly 50% from the field, hovered around 45% from three, and got to the line 30+ times.
  2. The Nets are not very good offensively. The Raptors packed the paint and didn’t chase down the three-point looks as much as they normally do. Brooklyn took 35 threes! A lot of those were uncontested. To reiterate, the Brooklyn Nets are not very good offensively. They didn’t stand much of a chance without Brook Lopez here.
