Terence Davis II makes All-Rookie Second Team

Let's go!

Terence Davis II has been rewarded for his strong freshman season with a spot on the NBA’s 2020 All-Rookie Second Team, the league announced Tuesday.

Davis placed fifth in first-team votes but slipped to seventh in total voting points by being left off a number of ballots. His case was pretty straightforward: He was the only player to appear in every game for the league’s No. 2 regular season team and his impact metrics – not to mention eye test – were at a top-10, and probably top-5, level among rookies.

Over 72 games, Davis averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.8 minutes while ranking fifth in rookie 3-point percentage at 38.8. His transition game and ability to put pressure on the rim were very valuable coming off the bench or starting for the Raptors, and while Nick Nurse opted not to use him much in the postseason, optimism should remain high for Davis’ future.

For what it’s worth, Davis has one more year left on his deal before restricted free agency in 2021. He isĀ not eligible for an extension.
