It’s a New Day, yes it is.
Those are the opening words not only of my alarm clock, but to the theme music for WWE’s hottest and most enjoyable act, the New Day. Made up of Big E. Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston, New Day have been dominating the wrestling scene as both tag team champions and as a gloriously heel-ish uber-positive faux-inspirational group. They’re hilarious.
As it turns out, a cousin of DeMarre Carroll thinks that Carroll’s a member of the triumvirate.
That would be a Kofi Kingston action figure being (jokingly) mistaken for Carroll, with the hair and goatee the obvious points of similarity (they don’t particularly look alike otherwise). Carroll helps the comparison along by using “#staypositive” in his description, a regular hashtag of Carroll’s that fits very well with the new day ethos (the power of positivity).
This all raises an important question: Has Carroll tried clap therapy to help in his recovery from a knee contusion, one that’s sidelined him for the last nine games? Now we just need Carroll, a true risk-taker when it comes to fashion, to try out Kingston’s best hairdo.
